On June 14th, JAPAN RAIL CAFE organized a small workshop about Japan’s railway system with 20 students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic Japanese Language course! In this 1-hour workshop facilitated by our very own Travel Communicators, students were given a short crash-course on things one should know when traveling in Japan for the first time by train, including knowing the different types of trains and modes available in Japan.
Albeit a short session, the students enjoyed themselves as they got to familiarize themselves with the vocabulary, signs and sounds most commonly found in Japan’s railways in this interactive and informative workshop. Students got to re-enact train announcements one would typically hear in the train station in front of their peers and teacher, as well as listen to Tokyo’s JR Yamanote Line’s catchy melodies. It was also fun listening to the different experiences traveling on Japan’s trains exchanged by the students and our Japanese Communicators.
By holding such workshops, JR CAFE hopes that students would gain more confidence in their learning of the Japanese language and culture. We are in the process of designing other workshops that would allow students to learn the language and culture in a fun and engaging way.
Workshop themes are customizable according to your students’ interests as well as learning capacity and preference. Drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
